We’re excited to share some pictures from a recent project which tasked us with installing a boardwalk in a local woodland. Designed to improve accessibility through a beautiful stretch of woodland, this boardwalk was constructed with durable, sustainable materials to withstand the elements and high level of foot traffic, ensuring it will serve visitors for years to come.
Our team began by marking out the boardwalk path, setting posts at regular intervals to create a solid foundation. The team dug post holes and positioned each support to keep the structure level. With the posts firmly in place, we started attaching the horizontal supports. These rails, made from recycled plastic will provide both strength and longevity in the woodland conditions.
Once the initial framework was completed, decking planks were laid down and securely fastened to the structure. The boardwalks open design will allow the rain to drain away naturally, helping keep it safe for visitors and preserving the surrounding environment.

Boardwalk installations like this play a crucial role in maintaining the balance between accessibility and environmental preservation. The area we were dealing with here was particularly prone to waterlogging especially in the winter months. Providing a walkway reduces traffic on this sensitive soil and minimises disturbance to the woodland ecosystem. This helps prevent erosion and protects plant life, making sure the woodland thrives alongside its human visitors.
